KELLY

James A. Kelly, age 86, a lifelong resident of Norwood, passed away peacefully on the morning of March 27, 2026, at Premier Healthcare of Harrington House in Walpole. He was the devoted and loving husband for 65 wonderful years to his wife, Claudia (Pelletier) Kelly.
Born in Norwood, James was the son of the late Ambrose and Mabel (Newark) Kelly. He was raised and educated in Norwood and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.
Following in his father’s footsteps, James pursued a career as an appliance technician. He worked for Sears & Roebuck, and later proudly owned and operated his own business, Kelly Appliance. Known for his dedication and strong work ethic, James was often there for customers during holidays or important family events, always willing to help no matter the circumstance and providing service with care and integrity.
In his spare time, James enjoyed a wide range of interests. He had a deep fascination with the history and engineering of trains, and his knowledge of the subject was extensive. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, proudly rooting for Mark Martin. James loved gardening and took great pride in growing vegetables to share with family and friends. Each year, he especially looked forward to the July 3rd Walpole Fire Engine Parade, the Needham Fourth of July Parade, and especially his beloved Norwood Fourth of July Parade, where he secured a front row seat to watch and enjoy with his family.
Above everything else, James cherished the time spent with his family. He took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and treasured the memories he made with each of them.
In addition to his beloved wife Claudia, James is survived by his children: James Kelly and his wife Susan; Michael Kelly and his wife Donna; Amy Carney; Yvonne McGowan and her husband John; and Yvette Sammarco and her husband Robert. He was the proud grandfather of Greer, Stephen, Matthew, John Jr., Amanda, Kelly, Chase, Nicholas, Daniel, and Shannon. Also, the loving great-grandfather of Gavin, Addilyn, and Chloe. He is also survived by his brother Paul Kelly and his wife Patti, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his beloved sons, Kevin and Christopher Kelly.
